My little niece made her appearance into the world on Thursday at 12:38 p.m. Courtney had a pretty long labor (19 hours) and ended up needing an epidural about 12 hours into her labor. She started having double peak contractions for more than two hours which kept her from resting or really catching her breath. So, after some consideration, she opted for the epidural - and by the looks of her she could not have been happier about it! But, everything went very smoothly for her and there were no complications which is great. Viviana is precious, and absolutely tiny! She only weighs 6 pounds 7 ounces - that's seems so minuscule compared to what people are having these days. There was a baby in the nursery next to her that was 8 pounds and he looked about a month older than little Viviana.
Everything is going well with the new family, too. There were some issues with eating at first, but it has all been resolved pretty much. Viviana is exactly how Courtney was as a newborn - she has to be woken up to be fed and she's pretty content just sleeping. Courtney and Myke are pretty lucky I think - there's no telling what my child will be like. And if he's anything like I was, let's just say I'm in for a rude introduction to parenthood.
As for little Alex, we had another non-stress test today and everything is still fine with the little man. I had a really long contraction (I'm still not feeling those buggers) that made me feel nauseous which is the only real symptom I've been having of contractions. Apparently, the really long ones make your blood sugar drop and that's why I end up feeling sick. It's weird that I don't really feel them as a contraction, though. Who knows what kind of labor I'm going to end up with in the end based on all of this build up. We are relieved in knowing we don't have to wait too much longer regardless, but we are both quite anxious about the idea of induction so we're both kind of on pins and needles each day. Justin has chopped down four enormous dead oak trees in our yard and keeps going outside to split the trunks into firewood. I know it's because he's stressed and antsy about everything. I'm just not sleeping at night and trying to stay as active as possible - but there's only so much you can do around the house. Honestly, this whole experience is proving to both of us that we do have patience. But it's also proving that neither of us really like to exercise our patience :)
Hopefully, my next update will include pictures of another baby!!!

Awww! Viviana is so cute!
You are probably at the hospital getting induced right now! If you have Alex today, he will share his birthday with my mom!
Time to update. I want a picture. Gimme gimme gimme.
Hey Tara & Justin,
Viviana is adorable! Please post pictures of Alex when you can. I know you're exhausted, but I'm anxious to see him. Hopefully the cats and the chiweenie are coping with the new member of the family.
