Update - on why there is still no baby

Well, Alex has still not made his appearance. We went to the doctor on Monday and they scheduled us for an ultrasound for Tuesday in order to see how everything is - make sure there aren't any serious complications. So, we had an ultrasound on Tuesday and found out that he's currently about 7 lbs. 10 oz. (give or take a pound!) based on the measurements of his spine and organs. Everything looked great, though, which was a relief. We had another appointment this morning and they went over the ultrasound results with us and reassured us further by saying there is no reason he can't hang out a bit longer in order to get my body to labor on it's own. The ultrasound is essentially a test to determine the health based on size, movement, heart rate and amniotic fluid and he got an 8 out of a possible 8 - already a little overachiever :)

Anyway, after the appointment, they sent me over to the hospital to get a non-stress test which is basically a 30 minute test where they monitor the baby's heart rate and the rate of contractions. Personally, I don't know that I've actually even felt one contraction, but according to the test I had about five in a thirty minute period - who knew! And his heart rate did everything it was supposed to do in relation to the contractions. So, everything is progressing correctly - if we could just get me to dilate and start having harder contractions, then we won't have to worry about an induction. But, if nothing gets started on it's own we are going to have to induce on Monday. Needless to say, I'm cleaning the bathroom, cleaning floors, walking - pretty much doing whatever I can to start the process on it's own.

So, that's the news for now. Plus, I got to hang out in one of the labor and delivery rooms at the hospital while I was being monitored and that made me feel tons better - I like that I've been there already and I know what to expect of the room and the staff. We just need to get the process under way - hopefully it'll be sooner than Monday!!!
