Sleep, glorious sleep

Alex is starting to sleep better! (I've probably jinxed myself.) He was sleeping fine before his four month check-up and then it was like he forgot how to sleep. He was sleeping at least six or seven hours before waking up and then going back to sleep until we got him up. But after his second round of shots it was every two or three hours that he was waking up. Maybe it's an age thing? He just would not sleep! But the past two nights have been pretty good. Tuesday night he slept straight from 7:00 until almost 5:00 in the morning! It was sooooo nice to be able to get some sleep. And last night he only got up at 2:00 and again at his usual 4:00. I have no idea why, but he ALWAYS wakes up around 4:00 to nurse.

We are also attempting to transition to solid foods. It's been a pretty slow process - mostly because I have no idea what I'm doing! At least I'm honest, right? He has been trying rice cereal for awhile now so I recently started to introduce oatmeal. He seems to like the oatmeal more than the rice cereal - must be all the oatmeal I ate while I was pregnant! He's getting better about actually eating the food and not just spitting it out and smiling like he thinks I'm crazy. Actually, he does that a lot - I think it's the eyebrows. He's just like his daddy! I'm pretty okay with the speed of his transition at this point. He's not six months old yet and his doctor told me to try to wait it out until he was about five months before starting to introduce solids. I sometimes feel like he's exhibiting all of the signs that he should be eating solids (waking up all night, never seeming to get enough when nursing, etc. etc. etc.) but he's just not completely ready. So why rush?

In big people news - Justin and I have been crazy busy. Justin did have a week off from work outside the home - he was working on proposals and bids. So Alex got to hang out with daddy for about a week and a half. It makes me feel pretty good when his daycare calls to check on him and then is excited to see him when he gets back. And no, oh you cynical masses, I don't think it's because of money because we were paying anyway. That really sucks. But yes, they love him at his school. And can you really blame them? I don't understand it, considering my behavior as a child, but he really is a very easy going baby.

That should be a good amount of information for a little while ;)

Oh, and as always, there will be new pictures up eventually.
