Alex had his four month check up on Friday and he is officially a chunky monkey. He weighs 16.38 lbs and he's 26.5 inches long. Not as big as "little" John Watson (18 lbs and 28 in. at 4 months(son of a coworker)), but big enough to hurt my back. The doctor was pleased with his developmental progress, etc. and then found it necessary to piss him off by injecting him with six different vaccines. Strangely he was kind of over the whole shot thing within a minute or two, so I guess he's not really that upset about the process. We'll see how he's acting when he's a year old getting those shots. Ha!
Anyway, he was sleeping pretty well before this last round of vaccinations - at least seven hours before waking up. But since he's had his shots he has been up every three hours wanting to eat. I don't know if he doesn't feel good and just wants some comfort or if he's truly hungry. And I'm trying really hard not to introduce solids yet - I feel like it's just too soon. But I may have to change my personal views on all that! Waking up every three hours to walk across the house and up a flight of stairs is hell. Fighting with a little squirming piglet to change a diaper is not fun. And trying to stay awake while this same piglet is nursing is a nightmare. That's it, I'm exhausted. I didn't think it was possible, but there you go. It is possible to make me tired. A little munchkin named Alex figured it out and he's only been on this earth for four months. I'm sure my mother is jealous he's figured me out ;)
In other news, I've started teaching dance again which is so wonderful. Terrible to see myself in form-fitting dance clothes. Scary to feel the pain of trying to dance. But wonderful to be doing something for myself again. And the studio recently moved to a much larger space so I'm really excited about that. I have 18(!!!) students in my ballet class this year - which is about twice as many as my first year a few years ago. I'm pretty happy that there are that many middle schoolers and high schoolers willing to spend an hour learning ballet each week.
My sister, brother in law and niece are all coming to visit this weekend for Labor Day. They are officially my first guests in the house and I'm really excited about having them visit. It could also have something to do with the before-mentioned exhaustion as I've been trying to fix up the house a bit. Hopefully I can find some time to get a bed frame for one of the guests rooms before they get here. I would feel really bad making my guests sleep on a mattress on the floor. But that's what happens when you move when your pregnant and you have a husband that doesn't really see the problem with making your guests roll onto the floor to get out of bed.
And, I think that's everything. Maybe if I would stop being so lazy I wouldn't have to write so much at one time.
There are more pictures of Alex I need to upload. And I will. Just as soon as the world starts allowing us 30 hour days.
